Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, indictments against 19 citizens of Ukraine were sent to the court on the facts of treason, participation in a terrorist organization, and the activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 258-3, Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in February of last year, before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the residents of Luhansk region voluntarily went over to the side of the enemy and joined the illegal paramilitary formation of the so-called “LPR”.
After the start of the armed aggression, the accused carried out combat missions on the territory of the Kharkiv region.
They were detained at the beginning of September 2022 during an attempt to advance further into the territory controlled by Ukraine.
The accused are currently being held in Ukrainian penitentiary institutions.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
