Such exercises are planned to cover all regions of the region.
“Helping children taking into account the trauma” – two educational trainings for children’s service workers and social specialists in Chervonohrad and Zolochiv districts took place on this topic last week.
As Volodymyr Lys, head of the Children’s Service of the Lviv OVA, said, by the end of the year, relevant training is planned to be held in all districts of the Lviv region.
“In the conditions of a full-scale war, this topic is more relevant and painful for everyone than ever. After all, trauma can change the essence of a child and the development of the brain. That is why it is so important to identify the problem in time and take care of children’s mental health,” Volodymyr Lys emphasized.
During the meeting they said:
- about important skills that are necessary for competent work with injuries;
- how to plan a child’s development from 5 points;
- about sensorial and literate upbringing of a child;
- how to cause a child’s affection;
- understanding the impact of trauma and the impact of trauma on child development;
- how to understand the impact of psychological trauma in a child;
- how to recognize signs and symptoms of trauma”
- how to prevent re-traumatization.
Speakers of the training, the purpose of which is to preserve the mental health of children, were the founder of the charitable organization “New Horizons for Children Ukraine Charitable Foundation”, clinical psychologist, Dr. Sherry Lynn McClurg, and the deputy director of the charitable organization, psychologist Willis Stephanie Suzette.
The events were held on the initiative of the Charitable Fund “New Horizons for Children Ukraine”, the Children’s Service of the Lviv OVA and with the assistance of the Chervonograd and Zolochiv district military administrations.
