Such a project will be implemented for the first time on the territory of Ukraine.
On November 28, the Lviv Regional Military Administration, represented by Chief Maksym Kozytskyi, and the Lviv Regional Council, represented by Acting Chairman Yuriy Kholod, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Triosan Holding Ukraine LLP, on behalf of which company representative Yuriy Kovalchuk acted.
The memorandum envisages cooperation between the parties regarding the construction of a greenhouse complex using geothermal energy in Yavoriv Oblast. Implementation of such a project will improve the region’s supply of vegetable products (tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and lettuce) that are affordable due to the low cost of energy resources.
“Since the main suppliers from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions are under temporary occupation and there is a shortage of greenhouse vegetables in Ukraine, this is a very relevant project. The area of the greenhouse complex will be 15 hectares. In terms of area, it will be the second in Ukraine. 180 people will be employed. About 70 million euros are being invested in the project. The use of geothermal resources will allow greenhouses to be independent of gas supply. In particular, gas savings will amount to 8 million cubic meters per year. In this way, it will be possible to supply vegetables at affordable prices.
The project is implemented by the company “Triosan Holding Ukraine”. Lviv OVA and Lviv Regional Council will contribute to this. The corresponding Memorandum of Cooperation was signed today. It is planned to start construction next year, and in 2025, the first phase will be put into operation. “Triosan Holding Ukraine” will cover the expenses, the company has already signed an agreement with an American financial company,” said the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.
The construction of the greenhouse complex is scheduled to be completed by 2028.
The memorandum, which the parties signed today, outlines the main areas of cooperation by combining intellectual and administrative resources for the effective implementation of the project, meeting the economic needs of all participants in this process.
The construction of such a greenhouse in Yavoriv Oblast is the first step in the introduction of geothermal energy on the territory of the country, therefore it has an important potential for Lviv Oblast.
For reference:
Geothermal energy is a renewable, sustainable and environmentally friendly source of energy, which is the heat of the earth, located under the earth’s surface. The use of geothermal energy is of great importance in the processes of heating, cooling and electricity production.
