The district authorities initiated the survey of the Western Bug river floodplains today, February 1, in the area of Volsvyn village, Bendyuga, and Sheptytsky City. Representatives from the State Emergency Service, State Consumer Service, Veterinary Service, and local rescue service participated in the operation, supported by the Sheptytsky District Administration.
As a result of the survey, the bodies of 38 swans that died during recent incidents were found on an area of 32 hectares. According to Andrii Diachenko, the head of the Sheptytsky District Administration, the dead birds were immediately packed in bags and transported to the Lviv Regional Laboratory for detailed analysis.
The authorities request citizens to report any cases of suspicious bird deaths or illnesses by contacting the district veterinary hospital at (03249) 39590 or (097) 9221394.
Additionally, it is prohibited to transport birds, eggs, and other products from the buffer zone, and fishing in this area is banned to prevent the spread of possible disease.
