Yavoriv district: a man came across a dangerous find while fishing
On 7 September, at 13:34, the Rescue Service received a report of a dangerous discovery in the village of Shehyni, Yavoriv district. A local resident, while fishing on the shore of a lake, came across an explosive object. It turned out to be an 82-mm mortar shell from the Second World War.
The discovery of the munition was reported to law enforcement agencies, and an application was submitted to the 2nd Special Rapid Response Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine for the removal and destruction of the munition.
The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast reminds that ammunition from the Second World War, despite its size and considerable age, remains extremely dangerous.
Do not expose yourself to danger: under no circumstances should you touch a dangerous object, carry or disassemble it, or throw it into a fire – it is very dangerous! Immediately report a dangerous find by calling 101 or 102!
