Lviv City Council will help restore 77 windows and 19 doors to victims of the recent Russian attack

The Executive Committee of Lviv City Council today approved compensation from the city budget to restore 77 windows and 19 entrance doors in the apartments that were damaged by a Russian missile attack on 4 September this year.

They also approved 2 compensations to residents of apartments flooded by fires.

According to the city’s social protection department, this time they received requests for payments with a full package of documents for: 77 broken windows for a total of UAH 1.8 million; 19 entrance doors for a total of UAH 148 thousand; 2 compensations to residents of apartments flooded as a result of firefighting for a total of UAH 30 thousand.

At the same time, last week the city approved the first compensation to residents for the restoration of 20 windows and 3 doors.

As a reminder, on the morning of 4 September, the enemy launched a combined attack on Lviv with rockets and shaheds. The attack killed 7 people, including 1 child. Another 71 people needed medical assistance, including 10 children. A total of 189 buildings were destroyed (residential buildings, 7 educational institutions, 2 sports facilities, 2 medical institutions and 1 cultural institution, as well as 1 church).

In order to restore the buildings destroyed by the Russians as quickly as possible, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi called on Ukrainian and international businesses to take care of one of the destroyed buildings. To date, more than 35 organisations, foundations, businesses and foreign partner cities have joined the Take Care of a House initiative.

The city also helps residents whose homes were destroyed or damaged as a result of an enemy attack. In particular, those in need were provided with temporary free housing. Residents who lost their apartments as a result of the hostile attack will be paid rent by the city. The amount of compensation will be UAH 10,000, UAH 12,000 and UAH 15,000, depending on the type of apartment they lost: 1-, 2- or 3-room apartments.

If the apartment survived, but there are broken windows or entrance doors, people will receive funds to replace them: up to UAH 12,000 for one broken window and up to UAH 8,000 for a damaged entrance door. If the apartment was flooded due to firefighting, the owner will receive compensation in the amount of UAH 15 thousand. For more information on how to apply for various compensations, click here.
