The sale of alcohol was allowed in Chervonohrad, but with certain restrictions

Депутати Червоноградської міської ради не дійшли згоди у питанні обмеження продажу алкоголю

The third plenary session of the 16th session of the Chervonohrad City Council took place on March 24. The agenda included a package of issues that needed urgent discussion and adoption, as well as those that were not considered at the previous session.

“On changes to local programs for 2022” – reported the head of the city financial department Lesia Sementukh. Accordingly, it was proposed to direct the balance of the subvention from the state budget, which was formed on January 1, 2022 and was provided for the development of municipal infrastructure, including the purchase of municipal equipment in the amount of 620 thousand UAH for the comprehensive program “Safe Community”. rescue vehicle for the 4th State Fire and Rescue Detachment of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region.

The most controversial issue on the agenda of the session was “On the ban on the sale of beer (except soft drinks), alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages, table wines in the Chervonohrad city territorial community.” According to the mayor of Chervonohrad Andriy Zalivsky, since the order of the head of the Lviv regional military administration was issued, it is obliged to adopt similar orders to the heads of district military administrations and the third point – to allow this issue to be considered by local governments.

Therefore, Bohdan Lishchynskyi, a deputy from Svoboda, addressed his colleagues with a proposal to ban the sale of alcohol on the territory of the Chervonohrad community, motivating this appeal at the request of our defenders from the front line. Instead, Oleh Musiy of the Voice faction called for restricting the sale of alcohol to beer and low-alcohol beverages in order to enable businesses to work in some way, while minimizing alcohol abuse. Petro Vasylyshyn, a deputy from the People’s Movement, stressed the need to pay special attention to law enforcement officers and members of volunteer groups to cases of drinking alcohol in public places and to apply harsh measures to violators. Petro Ostapyuk, a deputy from the European Solidarity, suggested that the issue be finalized and submitted to the next plenary session, which has so far banned the sale of alcohol in the Chervonohrad community. The position of the mayor of Chervonohrad Andriy Zalivsky was to limit the sale of alcoholic beverages in time – from 10 to 18 hours, to sell it no more than 2 units per person and to prohibit the sale of alcohol to people in military uniform. As a result of a lively discussion, a single agreed position was not reached. Thus, the existing “status quo” remained – that is, the sale of alcohol in the city is prohibited from 21 to 10 o’clock.

The next plenary session is scheduled for April 5.
