More than 35,000 young trout were released into the rivers of Lviv Oblast. The stocking took place in five rivers – the fish were raised at a special plant
This was announced on 24 August by the Lviv Fish Protection Patrol.
The fish were released in the rivers Stryi, Zavadka, Oryavchyk, Butyvlia and Berezhnytsia. The juvenile trout were raised at the Lopushno Trout Hatchery under the supervision of the State Fisheries Agency. The fish were released into the upper reaches of rivers to provide them with better conditions for survival, protect them from predators and promote the spread of trout in their natural environment.
Most fish were released into the Stryi River
- 12,800 fish were released into the Stryi River,
- 5,000 in the Zavadka River,
- in the Oryavchik River – 4,200,
- in the Butyla River – 4,000,
- 9,200 trout were introduced into the Berezhnytsia River.
The main objective of the artificial reproduction and introduction measures is to increase the population of valuable fish and prevent their extinction in natural reservoirs.
