Two reservoirs in our community are set to have solar power plants installed.
480 panels with a capacity of 590 W each, 4 grid inverters, and an electricity production metering device – this equipment has been provided to the water utility by GIZ as part of the project ‘Fair Transformation of Coal Regions and Green Restoration of Ukraine’s Energy Sector.’ These plants will be installed on the Pravdyne and Mezhyrich reservoirs, as announced by the first deputy mayor, Dmytro Balko.
‘Our water is supplied from beyond populated areas and needs to be pumped over long distances by pumps. To ensure proper pressure, large amounts of electricity are required, and the installation of solar panels will significantly reduce the costs of purchasing it. Currently, the design and estimate documentation is developed for the Pravdyne reservoir, and we are preparing to select a contractor for the work. Regarding the Mezhyrich reservoir, the design documentation is under development. We hope to implement this important project by the end of the year. In the future, we plan to install solar panels on the treatment facilities as well, as this will allow significant savings on electricity purchases due to high consumption rates,’ Dmytro Balko noted.
