A historical gate was restored near the Lviv National Philharmonic

Masters carried out the restoration of the outer gate in the building on M. Skoryk Street (former P. Tchaikovsky Street), 13. The work was carried out within the framework of the city’s co-financing program, which is coordinated by the Heritage Bureau of the Department of Historic Environment Protection.

Before the restoration, the gate structure and webs were in poor condition. It lacked many decorative elements, rotted parts of the wood needed replacement, missing glazing and an authentic handle.

“This gate was very damaged and needed a whole complex of works. We restored lost decorative elements, closing mechanisms, curtains. The door frame was previously loose, during the work we fastened both door leaves with a metal threshold in the lower part. In general, we worked on the restoration of this gate for 4.5 months,” says expert Oleksandr Savchuk.

The total cost of restoration works was about UAH 89,000.

“From this sum, the city paid almost UAH 62,000, and the rest was paid by residents who previously applied for participation in the co-financing program,” said Pavlo Bogajchyk, director of the “Heritage Bureau” LKP.

It will be recalled that last year at least 29 doors in the houses located in the historical part of the city were restored under the coordination of the Heritage Bureau of the LKP. When restoring gates, 70% of the cost of the work is paid from the city budget, 30% is paid by residents.
