An oak gate was restored near the cultural park in Lviv

Lviv restorers restored the historic gate in the building on the street. Vitovskogo, 31. The restoration work was carried out within the framework of the city’s Program of co-financing the restoration of valuable elements in historic buildings.

The gate had a lot of damage, but the craftsmen restored it to its authentic appearance. The works to restore the gate lasted about two months.

“This gate had a lot of damage, some of it was immediately visible, others were hidden by the old paint. We leveled its structure, restored the lost elements and installed new glazing and a latch.

In particular, many new inserts were made to replace the damaged wood, a new baseboard and threshold were made,” said master restorer Bohdan Gerus.

Specialists also removed the old layer of paint from the gate, covered the wood with a dark stain and transparent matte varnish. In this way, the gate has returned to its authentic appearance.

“The cost of restoration works is about UAH 68,000. Of this amount, the city paid almost UAH 47,600, and the rest was paid by the residents of the building,” said Pavlo Bogajchyk, director of the “Heritage Bureau” LKP.

We will remind you that the oak gate in the building at 15 Hlibova Street was recently restored in Lviv.

By the way, in 2022, 29 gates were restored in the historical part of the city, in cooperation with the residents. According to the Co-financing Program for Restoration of Valuable Elements in Historic Buildings, when restoring gates, 70% of the cost of the work is financed from the city budget, and 30% is paid by residents.
