Today, Lviv’s streets are busy with repair works aimed at fixing potholes on roads and sidewalks. According to the Department of Housing and Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council, repair crews are using hot asphalt due to favorable weather conditions, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures remaining above freezing.
Large-Scale Repairs Across All Districts
“We are addressing critical potholes to reduce the risk of road accidents and vehicle damage. All six districts are actively engaged. Preparatory work was carried out yesterday, and today we are focusing on asphalt paving,” the department reported.
Today’s repair works cover the following locations:
- Lychakivskyi District: Dzh. Washington St., Medova Pechera St., Zelena St.
- Shevchenkivskyi District: Road in Bryukhovychi settlement.
- Sykhivskyi District: Chervona Kalyna Ave., Dovzhenka St.
- Zaliznychnyi District: Sygnivka St.
- Frankivskyi District: Heroiv UPA St., Volodymyr Velykyi – Knyahyni Olhy roundabout, Volodymyr Velykyi St., 35a, Horodotska-Konduktorska St., Saryan St., 3, I. Bohuna St., Moldavska-Boichuka St., Kulparkivska St., 133, Truskavetska St., Troleybusna St.
- Halytskyi District: Paving repairs on Lystopadovoho Chynu-Mateyka St., and restoration after emergency waterworks on Beryndy St.

Drivers are advised to consider ongoing repairs when planning their routes, particularly in these locations. The department emphasized that repair locations were chosen based on both the urgency of the situation and numerous complaints from residents regarding poor road conditions.
Why Do Potholes Appear?
Potholes typically emerge due to abrupt temperature changes, especially during winter. Water seeps into asphalt cracks and freezes, expanding and breaking the surface. As soon as conditions allow, municipal services prioritize repairing the most critical areas.
