In Lviv, 125 Balconies Renovated Under City Co-Financing Program

Lviv continues to successfully implement the Co-Financing Program for Balcony Repairs in multi-apartment buildings that are not architectural monuments. This initiative allows residents to renovate their balconies under shared financing conditions.

Last year, 49 balconies were repaired under the program, including 40 individual and 9 shared-use balconies. This year’s results are even more impressive, with 76 balconies already repaired and work nearing completion on 15 more projects.

Plans for 2023

“This year, we planned to repair 99 balconies: 91 individual and 8 shared-use balconies. The city budget allocated 8.5 million UAH for these works, with 20% covered by building co-owners,” the Lviv City Council’s Department of Housing and Infrastructure stated.

Currently, 92% of the planned annual work has been completed.

Cost and Responsibilities
The average cost of repairing one balcony ranges from 60,000 to 100,000 UAH. Officials emphasize that responsibility for balcony maintenance, as private property, lies with the residents.

Balcony Inspections and Support Programs
Last year, Lviv conducted an inspection of balconies in multi-apartment buildings, revealing 9,270 individual balconies and 4,201 shared-use balconies in unsatisfactory condition.

Residents of non-architectural monuments can take advantage of a special support program, where the city covers 80% of repair costs, leaving 20% for apartment owners.

For buildings that are architectural monuments, a separate Co-Financing Program for Balcony Restoration is available. Consultations can be obtained at the Department of Historical Environment Protection, and documents can be submitted through the city’s administrative service centers.

Details about both co-financing programs are available on the official resources of the Lviv City Council.
