Today, January 27, a national record was set in Lviv. During the month, benefactors bought and delivered the largest number of generators to Ukraine — 1,263.
This was reported in the press service of Lviv OVA.
The project was initiated by the “Razom for Ukraine” and “Nova Ukraine” charitable foundations. After the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine’s power system, these charitable funds started a large-scale fundraiser for generators in the United States.
“American citizens and companies were influenced by the situation in Ukraine and “donated” funds to bring devices to Ukraine,” the report says.
Generators are different: diesel, inventory, closed and open type. The most powerful were transferred to the country’s medical institutions.
According to the regional coordinator of the “Nova Ukraine” fund Iryna Berezhnytska, the generators will be distributed throughout Ukraine. A part will be given to military units in the front-line areas, a part will be distributed to medical facilities, the rest to shelters and heating points.
“In the conditions when Russia is constantly trying to blackout Ukraine, the presence of autonomous sources of electricity production is extremely necessary, especially in the winter period. We exceeded the planned record. As of now, 1,263 generators have been transferred to Ukraine, but the need for them still remains, primarily at the front. Also, we received many requests, in particular from the Command of the Medical Forces of Ukraine, so we will transfer part of the generators to medical institutions. The total cost of the generators is more than 1 million dollars,” says Lyuba Shipovych, vice president of the Razom for Ukraine foundation.
Generators were ordered from many European countries, the largest number was transferred from Lithuania.
