Mykola Shalankevych (21.05.1992-19.02.2024), a radio telephonist of the control room of the commander of the 5th self-propelled artillery battery, returns home on a shield.
He was born in Stryi, studied at the local school №1. He received a degree in power engineering from Stryi College and Lviv National Agrarian University. In 2014, he was called up to the ATO. He took part in combat operations of the highly mobile airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After the service, he returned to civilian life and worked as a professional at Stryi power distribution company. On 24 February 2022, he was called up again to defend the state. He was killed while moving to a firing position, coming under artillery fire near the village of Leonidivka in Donetsk region.
An irreparable loss for his family and comrades-in-arms. His mother, wife, two children, aged 4 and 5, sister and extended family are bereaved.
