Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to three defenders of Ukraine

On Friday, December 29, Lviv will say goodbye to military personnel Stepan Polulyaschenko, Yevhen Husev, and Viktor Tsyran, who defended Ukraine from the invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The servicemen’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, and at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of defenders

Stepan Poluliashchenko (April 24, 1967-December 24, 2023). A native of Mali Lanka village, Lviv district, Lviv region.

Studied at secondary comprehensive school of grades I-III No. 78. Received vocational and technical education in Lviv. After completing his studies, he served in the military in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic).

In peacetime, he worked at LLC “Lviv Confectionery Factory “Svitoch” and at TDV “Lviv Footwear Production and Trade Enterprise “Progres”. Subsequently, he engaged in private entrepreneurship in the restaurant sector. He was fond of reading literature.

Took an active part in the events during the Revolution of Dignity. During 2015-2016, he fought with the occupiers in the area of the anti-terrorist operation. In 2017, he returned to the front and continued to defend the state until 2018.

On the second day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, of his own accord, he once again stood up for the defense of the Motherland. First, he performed combat missions in Gostomel, Kyiv region, then in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 15th Slavic Regiment of the Eastern Operational Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. By order of the Commander of the National Guard dated September 8, 2023, he was awarded the badge “For Valorous Service”.

Stepan Poluliashchenko is survived by his parents, brother, sister and nephews.

Yevhen Gusev (27.02.1988-15.11.2023). A native of the city of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region.

During the years 2004-2007, he received an education in the specialty “electric gas boiler”. After completing his studies, he worked as a handyman at a construction site in Severodonetsk.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the invaders. He defended the territorial integrity and independence of the state in the ranks of the 88th separate battalion of marines of the 35th separate brigade of marines named after Rear-Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradsky of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Performed combat missions in the southern direction.

Yevhen Gusev has friends and comrades-in-arms left.

Completed secondary education at a local school. In peacetime, he worked as a plumber in a housing and operating office in Mariupol.

Victor Tsyran’s neighbors admired his skill and always turned to him for help. According to relatives, he was “an exceptionally kind and warm-hearted person, he constantly brought home animals and took them out.” He was fond of fishing and adored recreation in nature.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Viktor Tsyran and his family were forced to leave their native home and move to Lviv. Here he defended the Motherland from the Russian invaders as part of the A7091 military unit. Performed combat missions to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in the eastern direction. He had very warm relations with his brothers.

Victor Tsyran is survived by his wife, three children and a sister.
