Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Ivan Oryshchyn and Bohdan Bodak

Tomorrow, February 1, Lviv will say goodbye to two more Heroes. Ivan Oryshchyn and Bohdan Bodak died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul (11 Teatralna St.), at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Bohdan Bodak (October 6, 1983-January 20, 2023) from Lviv.

 

He studied at Lyceum No. 51 named after Ivan Franko of the Lviv City Council.

He graduated from the former Secondary Vocational and Technical School No. 26 of the city of Lviv (today – the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Information and Computer Technologies”). After completing his studies, he worked in the field of transportation in Italy.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he returned from abroad to defend the Motherland from the Russian invaders. He fought against the terrorist state in the ranks of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” Regional Directorate of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Bohdan Bodak is survived by his mother, sister and two daughters.

 

Ivan Oryshchyn (June 5, 1979-January 24, 2023) from Lviv.

 

He studied at the “Grono” Lyceum of the Lviv City Council (at that time – Secondary School No. 64). He graduated from the former Secondary Vocational and Technical School No. 52 of the city of Lviv, where he obtained the specialty “electric train driver’s assistant”.

In 1997, he entered the military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he received the rank of “sergeant”.

Since 2006, he lived and worked in the field of urban transportation in the city of Kyiv.

During 2014-2017, he performed combat missions in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation as part of the 3rd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion “Volya” of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo of the Operational Command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Received the rank of “senior sergeant”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily returned to the ranks of the 24th brigade to defend the Motherland from the Russian invaders. Despite the concussion, he soon returned to the front.

Ivan Oryshchyn is survived by his parents and daughter.
