Defender Mykola Mazur will be laid to rest in Lviv tomorrow

On Thursday, 28 November, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Mykola Mazur, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers.

The City Hall calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.

The funeral rite for the defender will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Later, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Mykola Mazur (09.02.1996-20.11.2024) was born in the village of Korosno, Lviv region.

He studied at the Korosno Secondary School of I-II levels and at the former Secondary School №2 in the city of Peremyshlyany. Przemyslany. Later he entered the Technical and Economic College of Lviv Polytechnic National University, majoring in Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation.

He first worked as the head of a local credit institution and later in a design bureau. In his spare time, he was fond of cooking and playing the guitar, and read a lot.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the state from the occupiers. He performed combat missions to repel Russian aggression in the ranks of the 82nd separate Bukovyna Air Assault Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was awarded a number of decorations from the Ministry of Defence and the Air Assault Brigade Command.

Mykola Mazur is survived by his mother, two sisters and a nephew.
