Lviv region became the first in Ukraine to be free of the Moscow church

Today is a historic day for the Lviv region – the region has been cleansed of religious communities subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate.

Lviv region became the first in Ukraine to have no more registered religious communities of the Russian Orthodox Church, the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, said.

Before Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in 2014, there were 66 religious communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in our region. As of 24 February 2022, there were 54 of them.

During the full-scale invasion, 27 communities joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and another 27 ceased their activities on their own accord.

The fate of these religious communities once again proves that manipulation and deception have no future. There are only two ways – truth or lies. And the truth will definitely win!

I sincerely hope that the religious communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in other regions of our country will not wait for the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Field of Religious Organisations”, but will finally break ties with the structure of the bloody Moscow priests. What Ukraine will be like tomorrow depends on each of us,” said Maksym Kozytskyi.
