A new sporting tradition has been launched in the town of Kotermak – the annual interregional Drohobych Knight Cup. The competition will be held in several stages, and the first stage started on Friday, March 1.
The sporting event brought together 11 teams on the blue tracks of the Children’s and Youth Sports School. In total, more than 120 participants from Uzhhorod, Mukachevo, Lviv, Ternopil, Dolyna, Rohatyn, Novyi Rozdil, Mykolaiv, Truskavets and Drohobych took part in the competition.
The young athletes competed in freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke.
Yuriy Kushlyk, Deputy Mayor for Social and Humanitarian Relations, was the guest of honor at the competition and in his welcoming speech inspired the young athletes to perform well and thanked the defenders of Ukraine for the opportunity to hold the sports competition.
Dear participants, parents and guests of our city, welcome to Drohobych! I have the honor to introduce you to a new tournament – the Drohobych Knight Cup, which we have launched. This knight is the personification of those Heroes who are doing everything possible to ensure that our children can swim here today. I wish everyone victory and successful competitions,” Yuriy Kushlyk greeted the participants.
The winners of the competition from the Drohobych Children’s and Youth Sports School team were: Vladyslav Kobziak – 1st place, Marta Solomchak – 2nd place, Yana Letnyanchyn – 2nd place, Yulia Didyk – 2nd and 3rd place, Veronika Khotyn – 2nd and 3rd place, Artur Palyarush – 3rd place.
Relay swimming: Drohobych took 3rd place in the team competition among participants born in 2010, 3rd place among those born in 2011, and 2nd place among those born in 2012.
The second stage of the competition will take place on June 1.
