More than a hundred athletes from eight regions of Ukraine competed here.
From March 27 to 31, the first round of the championship of Ukraine in bench shooting took place on the basis of the sports and recreation complex in the village of Nescheriv, Obukhiv district. More than a hundred athletes from eight regions of Ukraine competed in the “Trench Stand” and “Round Stand” exercises.
In the individual competition, athletes from the Lviv region won the following awards:
Olena Okhotska – 1st place among women in the “Trench Stand” exercise;
Andriy Kobzaruk – 1st place among men in the exercise “Round Stand”;
Nadiya Bulgakova – 3rd place among women in the exercise “Trench Stand”;
Valeriya Bartysheva – 3rd place among women in the exercise “Round Stand”;
Bozhena Ivanyshyn – 3rd place among juniors in the exercise “Round Stand”.
Achievements of Lviv Oblast athletes in team competitions:
2nd place in the MIKC team in the “Trench Stand” exercise – Olena Okhotska and Oleksandr Bilko;
3rd place in the MIX team in the “Trench Stand” exercise – Nadiya Bulgakova and Petro Polishchuk.
“In recent years, target shooting has gained considerable popularity, as this sport, in addition to a competitive, sports component, also has an applied one.
In the work of our administration, we also use it as one of the directions of national-patriotic education of youth.
Considering the realities in which we live, we understand that now this line of work should be as practical as possible – with the skills of shooting, first aid, orientation to the terrain, etc.,” says Roman Khimyak, head of the youth and sports department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Also, when today we talk about bench shooting, for us it is about the history of an incredible example of the resilience of Ukrainians on the one hand and the integrating power of sports on the other. Let’s recall the story of the sisters Valeria and Oleksandra Bartyshevy.
The first is a master of sports of Ukraine of international class, the second is a master of sports of Ukraine. They come from Kharkiv, but today Lviv has become their home. They left their hometown when there was only one city available for that city.
