Due to deteriorating weather conditions, 19 tourists could not descend Mount Trostyan

Mountain rescuers of Lviv region helped 19 tourists to descend from Mount Trostyan

 

On 23 June, at 03:58, rescuers received a report that 19 people (16 children and 3 adults) needed help to get down from Mount Trostyan in the village of Slavske, Stryi district, due to deteriorating weather conditions.

Rescuers from the Slavske Mountain Search and Rescue Group arrived at the scene and at 05:41, they brought the tourists down the mountain to safety.

The Lviv regional rescuers remind of the need to comply with safety rules when holidaying in mountainous areas. In particular, when going on a hiking trip, follow these tips:

  • before going to the mountains, ask about the conditions of the area and the weather forecast, and do not go on a trip if the weather conditions deteriorate;
  • notify the rescuers of the start of your hike, the approximate route and the date of completion of the hike;
  • inform your friends and family about the hike;
  • Avoid hiking alone, the minimum recommended number of participants in a tourist group is at least three people;
  • make sure your equipment meets the requirements of the hike: take enough food and water (warming drinks – tea, coffee), as well as the necessary warm clothes and shoes, medicines;
  • Be sure to take reliable tourist maps with you.
