The day before, the communities of Lviv Oblast joined the World Cleanup Day. This year, the cleaning took place under the slogan “Let the sky be peaceful, and Ukraine be clean!”. In communities, the action was coordinated by youth councils, youth spaces and public organizations.
In Lviv, the main location for cleaning was Lviv Park “Citadel”, where 16 tons of garbage were collected, of which 3.5 tons were sorted. In total, 70 locations for cleaning were registered in Lviv region, where 2,000 participants joined the campaign.
“Lviv region is a powerful region with extremely active people who strive to be more environmentally conscious and have a clean environment. It is extremely nice that so many people in the Lviv region rallied and made a large number of locations, besides, some of them sorted garbage. I was pleasantly surprised that representatives of the authorities, opinion leaders, as well as Ukrainian artists and local residents joined the main location for cleaning,” said Kateryna Politytska, coordinator of the World Cleaning Day in Lviv region.
Leaders of opinion and well-known Ukrainian artists joined the action, including the founder and ideologist of the music holding “MUZIKA” and the author of the anthem of the “Save Me” campaign “World Cleaning Day” Pavlo Striletsky (Pasha Mentions) and Ukrainian singer Shumei.
Cadets of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Civil Protection, which is one of the structural divisions of the Lviv State University of Life Safety, also joined the action. Despite the fact that the day of the action coincided with the professional holiday “Day of the Rescuer”, the cadets expressed a desire to help protect the environment and beautify the city of Lviv, which for many of them has already become their home during the years of study.
“In a difficult time for each of us and our country, we have to work even more intensively, more diligently and more responsibly, because each of us works on our front and contributes our small part to the victory. The day will come and we will surely win, because we have no other way. And after the victory, our heroes will return to each city: parents, relatives, friends, acquaintances whom we wait for and love. And they have to return to a clean, beautiful and brightly colored city that radiates freedom. Such actions are very necessary, they help unite caring people who are ready to help and make this world cleaner and kinder,” said the cadets who joined the action.
We remind you that World Cleaning Day lasts in communities until September 25 inclusive.
