Hydrological Dynamics in the Rivers of Lviv Region: Water Decrease and Expected Ice Phenomena

As of 8:00 AM on February 5, 2025, a moderate decrease in water levels, ranging from 1 to 6 centimeters over the past day, has been recorded in the rivers of the Lviv region. Specifically, the water temperature in the mountain tributaries of the Dniester was between 0.0 and 1.2 degrees Celsius. In other rivers of the region, the temperature varied between 0.4 and 3.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the consultative review, the upcoming period in the rivers of the Lviv region is expected to show minor fluctuations in water levels, with a prevailing tendency to decrease. Due to the drop in air temperature, ice phenomena could appear on certain mountain tributaries of the Dniester, including the formation of ice banks and frazil ice.
