Polish generals and Italian passions
The small streets of Parkov, Rutkovich and Samchuk, located around Stryi Park, are connected not only by location, but also by history and names. Here you can see a swan, a ship, a gladiator and even a house a la Gaudi. And the fates of the people who lived here are worthy of historical novels, they can be used for melodramas, detective stories, horror films… We will hear the story of a famous gymnast who passed through German concentration camps, a bridge builder, a famous oil producer, with whom one of the largest scandals in Lviv… And what are three (or even four) muses of an outstanding Ukrainian writer or real Italian passions in the family of a famous professor worth? And do you know how the outstanding Norwegian expressionist artist and the Polish dissident poet, the leader of the Kraków bohemia of that time, are related to each other? And what does the Polish major general have to do with one of the most piquant and romantic stories in Europe? And the general who turned out to be… shall we say, not quite a general? There, behind the gas station, under the oak…
On Sunday, we invite you to the premiere of a new tour of a new district! For some reason, he is considered not too interesting, but this is far from the case. Although there were no palaces and luxurious villas here, you can also find a lot of interesting things. To begin with, do you know what Klepariv is, why it is called that and where it was? And where was the Royal mill or the honey beehive? How are Rio de Janeiro and a submarine related to Lviv? Everyone knows that kerosene was invented in Lviv, but what about gas? Do you know that the record of our city is also connected with him? And what street has never changed its name?) During the excursion, you will see the building where the prayer service for the emperor was held, old unique houses, interesting courtyards… You will hear the story of a graphic artist who predicted his death, an outstanding Russian-Ukrainian military leader, ” the father” of the atomic bomb and the world’s first nuclear power plant, a blind boy who became… a Japanese classic, and is more famous in Japan than in the Motherland in Ukraine… Come, it will be interesting!

From Lemberg to Lviv. A walk from Stryisky Park to the lake at the intersection of Stryiska/Naukova – an excursion for internally displaced persons
In the second half of the 19th century, Lviv experienced a real boom: theaters, universities, electrification, trams and the first cars. It is impossible to fully convey this story without mentioning the Stryi Park and the grand exhibitions that took place in it, which were visited even by the Austrian emperor. Stryyska Street is also about powerful industrial facilities that operated in Lviv during the Soviet period. Our city was an important component, even the face of Soviet modernization and industrialization in the second half of the 20th century. The Lviv Bus Plant was known in various parts of the USSR. After all, during independent Ukraine, several extremely interesting and noteworthy locations appeared on Stryyska Street and its surroundings. We will talk about all this, as well as much more, during the walk, the route of which will run from Austrian Lviv, through Soviet Lviv, to modern Lviv.
