Memorial plaques to Yury Pavlyshyn and Mykhailo Shkirtsi, who died in the war, were opened on the facade of the Zahirochkiv gymnasium of the Khodoriv community

Heroes don’t die, they stay with us as long as we remember them

On January 14, on the facade of the Zahirochkiv gymnasium of the Khodoriv community, memorial plaques were opened to Yury Pavlyshyn and Mykhailo Shkirts, who died in the war and who once studied at this educational institution.

The solemn opening ceremony was attended by relatives of the victims, representatives of the city council, teachers and students of the gymnasium, and residents of the village. On the occasion of the opening, the village head of the Zahirochkiv district, Yaroslava Semigynivska, and the deputy mayor of the city, Olga Melnyk, addressed the villagers. The wife and mother of Yuriy Pavlyshyn and the sister of Mykhailo Shkirka shared their memories of the fallen heroes.

Those present honored the memory of the fallen fellow villagers and all the soldiers who gave their lives in the fight for freedom and independence of Ukraine with a moment of silence.

Yuriy Pavlyshyn – born in 1973, senior soldier, operator of the radio electronic warfare department of military unit A0998 of the 24th brigade, died on April 16, 2022 in a battle for Ukraine near the city of Popasna, Luhansk region. He was awarded the “Will”, “Always Faithful”, “Hero’s Cross” (posthumously), “For Courage” orders of the III degree (posthumously).

Mykhailo Shkirka – born in 1992, with the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion, he defended Ukraine from the occupier. He was a junior sergeant, commander of the 2nd rifle division of the 1st rifle platoon of the rifle company of military unit A4821. Died while performing a combat mission in the area of Novostorivka settlement of Svativ district, Luhansk region.
