No, Dad, I’ll go with you: the story of two medics who stood up to defend the country in the ranks of the 103rd Terrorist Defense Brigade

The father and son managed to visit the ground zero, where they provided assistance to our wounded soldiers.

At the age of 20, Denis, nicknamed “Sokil,” is already a veteran. He has been at war with his father since the first days of the full-scale invasion. He says he could not stay at home knowing that his father was at war.

“On February 24, 2022, I had to grow up. To make this transition from an ordinary teenager to a real man. I immediately said I would join the army. Of course, my mom was against it, but I couldn’t stay at home and go to school knowing where my dad was,” the guy says.

The boy’s father, a paramedic with the call sign “Kazakh,” did not object to his son joining the Armed Forces. He is convinced that at the age of 18, his son was already a well-formed person.

“We explained to him that this is a war and that there could be deaths, it could be very difficult. But he said: “No, dad. We have to defend our country. And I will go with you.” As for me, I have a medical degree, but for the last 20 years I have been working outside my specialty. But now I am a company medic,” the soldier says.

The father and son managed to visit the “ground zero”, where they provided assistance to our wounded soldiers. The first combat mission happened just on Denys’s birthday. Due to an enemy air strike, many of his comrades were killed, and the family still remembers this incident.
