The city will pay financial aid to the relatives of those killed in the plane crash in Sknylov

In Lviv, by the 21st anniversary of the plane crash that occurred at the Sknyliv airfield on July 27, 2002, one-time financial assistance will be paid to the families of the victims.

In particular, 55 people will receive 2,000 hryvnias each. 110,000 hryvnias were allocated from the budget of the Lviv community for these payments.

As reported in the Social Security Administration, the city has been financially supporting people who were injured or lost their relatives in a plane crash for more than a year. In particular, last year before the 20th anniversary of the plane crash, family members of the victims received a one-time payment in the amount of 5 thousand hryvnias.

This assistance is provided within the framework of the Comprehensive Program of Social Support for certain categories of citizens of the Lviv City Territorial Community.

As a reminder, the memorial service will begin tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ UGCC (319a Horodotska St.). Afterwards, flowers will be laid at the “Segment of Memory” of the victims of the Sknyliv tragedy at the airfield. Given the restrictions caused by the martial law, laying flowers at the memorial will be a narrow circle of relatives of the dead.

The Sknyliv tragedy is an accident that occurred during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the 14th Aviation Corps of the Ukrainian Air Force at the Sknyliv airfield near Lviv on July 27, 2002. Due to the fall of the Su-27UB fighter into the crowd of spectators, 77 people died, including 28 children. About 250 people were injured. According to the number of dead, this event is considered the biggest disaster in the history of aviation festivals.
