In Lviv, restorers restored a 4-meter-high oak gate on Saksaganskoho Street

In Lviv, the historic oak gate at 22 Saksaganskogo St. was restored. According to the restorers, the gate was in poor condition, and the work was complicated by its height of more than 4 meters.

“This oak gate was in bad shape. The left and right door leafs had significant damage in the lower part, holes remained from the old locks, the plinth board was lost. In addition, the decorative carving is almost completely lost along the entire plane of the gate. It’s good that the authentic forged grilles have been preserved,” said master restorer Rostyslav Maletskyi.

Specialists replaced the damaged wood, cleaned the forged elements and installed new glazing. The lost decorative decorations of the gate were restored by experts based on historical analogues. The height of the gate – 4.2 m – complicated the work of the restorers. In particular, when restoring the skylight.

“The cost of restoration works is about UAH 75,000. The residents’ contribution amounted to UAH 22,500, the rest of the amount was co-financed by the city,” said Pavlo Bogajchyk, director of the “Heritage Bureau” LKP.

We would like to remind you that the specified restoration works are carried out within the framework of the Co-financing Program for the Restoration of Valuable Elements in Historic Buildings.
