It was about the development of architecture and artistic heritage, innovative methods in research and design of design objects.
Today, December 8, the scientific-practical conference “Theory and Practice of Design: New Challenges in Wartime” was held at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Within the framework of the meeting, artists and teachers were able to exchange practical and theoretical experience regarding the study and development of design, architecture and artistic heritage, knowledge about innovative methods in the study and design of objects of design and architecture in the conditions of a full-scale invasion. The event was also attended by the deputy head of Lviv OVA Yuriy Buchko.
“I remind you once again that now everyone has to fight the enemy on their front. In particular, the community of architects and designers – they are engaged in professional activities, support the army, volunteer, and also develop strategies for the post-war reconstruction of our cities. After all, it is difficult to imagine the scale of destruction that Russia is causing to Ukraine. We are working now, we will work even more actively after the victory. Let’s resist!”, he emphasized.
Olena Vasylko, director of the department of architecture and urban development of the Lviv OVA, noted that now the professional community of artists is constantly working on solutions that will make our urban spaces meet all the challenges of the times.
“The safety component has always been a priority in the development of design and architectural projects. Now this issue has not only intensified, but also acquired other dimensions. Security, national identification, inclusion, energy efficiency. We must not just satisfy all these requests, but do it qualitatively. Therefore, the professional community is constantly working on solutions that will make our urban spaces meet all the challenges of the time,” she added.
The Department of Architecture and Urban Development of Lviv State University, the Lviv Polytechnic National University, the Powder Tower Center for Architecture, Design and Urbanism joined the organization of the conference.
