6 forcibly displaced Ukrainians were employed in Lviv schools: stories of people

From now on, 6 forcibly displaced Ukrainians who moved to Lviv due to the Russian invasion work in the schools of the Lviv City Territorial Community. They have already settled in the city and have been employed as teachers, laboratory assistants and even deputy school principals.

In the lyceum. Vasyl Symonenko, a Kyiv-based computer science teacher with 9 years of experience in teaching this subject at school and in the field of IT, was employed as a computer science teacher. Now he and his family have moved to Lviv and are already teaching high school students.

School №22 found a deputy director for economic affairs quite by accident: a woman came to this school to enroll children and learned about this vacancy. As she will not be able to return home in the near future, a lawyer from the Zhytomyr region started working at the school.

“Ms. Yanina came to our lyceum to enroll children. We talked, I found out that she is an artist, and offered her a job, because we have a vacancy during the maternity leave of the main employee. We decided to hold classes with students in the form of art therapy. Ms. Yanina already works with elementary school, she enjoys working with children. We are very pleased with her work and are glad that we found a specialist in our team by chance, ”said Iryna Khmil, director of the Lyceum. And Pulyuya.

Lyceum №15 has temporarily hired a new physical education teacher while their employee defends Ukraine at the front. The new teacher has moved to Lviv from Mariupol, has a relevant education, so he will now work with Lviv students.

A former graduate of this school, who still lived and worked in Kyiv, got a job as a laboratory assistant at school №44.

Twice, Alina, an internally displaced person (first from occupied Luhansk and then from shelled Kyiv), found out about a vacancy for a psychologist at the Odny, Dva, Tri primary school on the school’s website. After the interview, the school principal hired her and she is very satisfied with the methods of communicating with children, as she has experience as a psychologist.

“I am from Luhansk, where I lived until 2014. Then my family and I were forced to move to Kyiv, where I graduated and worked as a psychologist at the gymnasium. When the explosions started in the capital, we went to Lviv.

When I came here, I saw a vacancy and got a job at a school. To find out the current state of parents and children, how they react to the war, I made an online questionnaire. Based on the answers, I will be able to better understand the situation and know what classes to conduct, how to provide information to those who need an individual conversation, “said Alina.
