The famous historian Volodymyr Vyatrovych presents a new book in Lviv

The event will take place this Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. at E Bookstore, located at 7 Svobody Avenue.

At the presentation, visitors will be able to listen and chat with the historian, as well as get an autograph on the book. Ukrainian journalist and publicist Serhii Rudenko will act as moderator.

“Our centenary. Short Essays on the Long War” is a book about the war that broke out with new force on February 24, but has been going on for a century, about the historical background of the events that are currently disrupting the lives of millions of Ukrainians, about the history of confrontation, not brotherhood. This is a deep understanding of our historical path.

The books of Volodymyr Vyatrovych, whose scientific interests are the Ukrainian resistance movement, are 45 chapters, 45 vital lessons of history that we must learn in order to defend independence and the very existence of the state of Ukraine. These are 45 important questions that concern everyone, and the life of Ukrainians depends on their solution. Why did this war happen? Why did Ukraine lose a hundred years ago and why can it win today? Why is Russia still afraid of Bandera? Why is Ukrainian nationalism necessary for Ukraine and the world? Vyatrovych’s thoughts about our past and present are voiced not from a cozy office hundreds of kilometers from the war, but from the very vortex of it, and therefore will surely sound louder and more convincing.

“As a historian, I tried to explain to my compatriots what they see through the prism of what our ancestors experienced. As a father, son, husband, I tried to save my family. As a politician, he participated in the adoption of important and, I hope, correct decisions for the country. As a citizen, he took up arms and joined the ranks of territorial defense. In the 206th battalion, I better understood those about whom I wrote as a historian – the freedom fighters of the last century,” — V. Vyatrovych.

The book was published by “Fabula” publishing house together with “Ranok” publishing house. The publication is complemented by illustrations by Kharkiv artist Nikita Titov.
