In Lviv region, police successfully detained a man suspected of illegally taking possession of a Citroen car. This incident occurred on the streets of Stryi city, where the car was left unattended near a store, and soon disappeared.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the criminal police operatives, the rapid response patrol group, and other special units of the Stryi District Department, as well as employees of the Lviv Region Criminal Analysis Department, a series of measures were conducted. Among them was the analysis of recordings from the ‘Safe Lviv Region’ video surveillance camera system, which helped locate the stolen vehicle in a village of the district.
The thief, a 34-year-old local resident who had previous legal issues, was identified and detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was notified of the suspicion under part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which imposes a punishment of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years, with the possibility of property confiscation.
The stolen car was seized and secured on a specialized site. The investigation continues, and the court intends to determine preventative measures for the suspect soon.
