As a result of the suspect’s illegal activities, the victim, who intended to purchase a helmet for her son, a military serviceman, lost eighteen thousand hryvnias.
The perpetrator, a 39-year-old man from Lviv, was exposed by operatives of the criminal police together with investigators from police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Galician district prosecutor’s office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the attacker created a platform for the sale of military equipment in one of the social networks. In fact, he did not have the product in stock, instead, he received money from customers as a subscription, which he later appropriated.
Law enforcement officers documented the fact of the fraudster’s illegal activity, as a result of which one of his “clients”, who intended to purchase a foreign-made helmet for her son, who is serving in a war zone, suffered losses in the amount of 18 thousand hryvnias. She transferred the money to the fraudster as a full payment for the product, which, of course, she did not receive.
Investigators informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine of two thousand to three thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or community service for a period of two hundred to two hundred and forty hours, or correctional work for a period of up to two years, or restriction of freedom for a period of up to three years.
The indictment is referred to the court.
