The preliminary cause of the accident was that one of the participating drivers drove into the oncoming lane. He is detained, for what he has committed he faces a penalty – up to ten years of imprisonment.
The traffic accident happened today, October 15, at 9:15 a.m. on the Truskavets-Lviv highway near the city of Truskavets.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, Toyota Land Cruiser cars driven by a 43-year-old resident of Kyiv collided with a Volkswagen Caddy driven by a 56-year-old resident of Rava-Ruska.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Volkswagen and two of his passengers died on the spot from their injuries. Four more people – a passenger and two female passengers of the Volkswagen, as well as a passenger of the Toyota – were injured. Doctors clarify their diagnoses.
It was preliminarily established that the cause of the collision was that the Toyota driver drove into the oncoming traffic lane. He is detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to the fact, the investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of transport of the police of the Lviv region opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 286 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years.
