In the territory of the “Krakivets” department in Lviv region, a 31-year-old man from Turkey was detained. This incident occurred thanks to the efforts of the border guards from the 7th Carpathian Squad, who discovered that the foreigner planned to illegally cross the border, pretending to be a fisherman.
The man had equipped himself with all necessary fishing gear, including a fishing rod and tackle. He also had spare warm clothing, a first aid kit, and water bottles, all packed in two backpacks: one designated for fishing, and the other for crossing the border.
Although his entry into Ukraine was legal, his planned departure was through unauthorized crossing points, as he lacked the necessary documents to enter the EU. He justified his actions by expressing a desire to visit friends in the EU.
For violating the law, a protocol was drafted according to Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences concerning the foreigner.
We remind that illegal border crossing can lead to administrative or criminal liability. We urge citizens to adhere to Ukrainian law and cross the state border only through designated checkpoints.
