Prosecutors of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv completed the pre-trial investigation and sent to the court indictments against a resident of Kyiv on the fact of smuggling psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities (Part 3 of Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and a resident of Lviv on the fact of storing and selling psychotropic substances (Part 2, 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the accused went to Amsterdam to purchase a wholesale batch of psychotropic substances. Having bought about 13 kg of pills and 3,000 brands of LSD, she packed them in candy wrappers and put them in a suitcase. After that, the woman went to Germany, from where she sent the suitcase to Ukraine by bus.
In Lviv, a local resident picked up the parcel from the train station. The accused provided packing and sending of “orders” across Ukraine.
The value of seized psychotropic substances at black market prices is about UAH 16 million.
The accused are currently in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the GU NP in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
