Lviv Court Upheld Verdict of 9 Years Imprisonment for 21-Year-Old Accused of Drug Trafficking

Unchanged Verdict in the Drug Trafficking Case in Lviv

A 21-year-old Lviv man has received confirmation of a 9-year imprisonment verdict from the appellate court for the illegal acquisition, storage for the purpose of trafficking, and distribution of psychotropic and narcotic substances in particularly large quantities.

Details of the Legal Process

The district court initially sentenced the accused; however, after an appellate complaint from the defense, the appellate court reduced the term to 6 years and 3 months. Nevertheless, the prosecution disagreed with this decision, and subsequently, the Supreme Court of Ukraine resumed the proceedings, concluding with the confirmation of the original verdict.

As a result of a thorough investigation, it was proven that the accused organized the distribution of banned substances via postal services and so-called ‘cache’ methods. He continued these activities even during the court hearings, which only complicated his situation.

Circumstances of the Case and Evidence

The banned substances seized during the search included 8 different types of drugs, with a total weight of nearly 3 kg. The method of distribution through ‘caches’ and specialized channels on Telegram further complicated the case for the defense.
