Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment against a former employee of an enterprise on the fact of land pollution and violation of water protection rules (Part 1 Art. 239, Part 1 Art. 242 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was sent to court.
The investigation established that in Chervonohrad region, the accused, being an official of an alcohol production company, contrary to the law, allowed the discharge of the company’s waste water, which led to the pollution of surface waters of a local river and land plots with a total area of 1.25 hectares.
In particular, the maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants harmful to human health and the environment were exceeded.
The amount of damage caused to the environment is over UAH 100 thousand.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Chervonohrad District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region with operational support from the Chervonohrad District Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
