Man Arrested in Lviv Region for Axe Attack
The injured man is in intensive care with severe bodily injuries. The suspect faces a penalty of up to eight years of imprisonment.
Incident Details
As established by the criminal police operatives and officers of other services of Police Department No.1 of the Drohobych District Police Department, together with investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department, the incident occurred on February 18 around 21:30 in one of the villages in the Drohobych district. A conflict arose between the detainee, a 49-year-old local resident, and his guest, a 61-year-old fellow villager, during which the younger man inflicted multiple blows to the older man’s head and various body parts and struck his right hand with an axe. The injured man is now in intensive care.
Investigation and Legal Consequences
Through conducted measures, law enforcement established the whereabouts of the perpetrator and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators from the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional Grievous Bodily Harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction prescribes a penalty of five to eight years of imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation continues, and the court will soon choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
