Several more “evaders” who tried to escape from mobilization abroad with forged documents will be tried in Lviv Oblast

Criminals face up to two years of imprisonment for forgery and use of known forged documents.

As investigators of the Yavoriv district police department found, a 25-year-old resident of Kyiv forged documents to declare him unfit for military service. Later, he presented them at the checkpoint “Krakowec” in order to cross the border without hindrance

Also, as the investigators of police department No. 1 of the Yavoriv district police department established, a 45-year-old resident of Poltava region entered inaccurate information in the passport of a citizen of Ukraine in order to travel abroad. Later, the perpetrator, while at the “Mostyska” checkpoint, presented a forged document in order to obtain the right to leave the territory of Ukraine as a person moving to another state for permanent residence.

Investigators of the territorial units of the police informed the men of the suspicion of criminal misdemeanors, provided for in part 1 and part 4 of article 358 (Forgery and use of a known forged document) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the articles is restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years.

Pre-trial investigations have been completed, indictments have been sent to the court for consideration.

We would like to remind you that the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 64/2022 dated 24.02.2022 introduced martial law in the country and started the mobilization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the establishment of restrictions on the departure of male citizens aged 18 to 60 outside of Ukraine.

In total, during the period of the legal regime of martial law, police investigators of the Lviv region opened 1,405 criminal proceedings on the facts of forgery and the use of forged documents to cross the state border of Ukraine in order to evade mobilization and military service. 981 persons were notified of the suspicion. In 534 criminal proceedings, pre-trial investigations have been completed, indictments have been referred to the court.
