The traffic accident occurred on February 2, around 3:00 p.m., on the highway “Kyiv-Chop” in the village of Smozhe, Stryi district.
As previously established by law enforcement officers, the driver of the Opel Astra, a 31-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Sambir region, lost control, drove into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with a Range Rover driven by a 57-year-old man from Kyiv.
As a result of the accident, the drivers of both vehicles were injured and hospitalized.
According to the fact, investigators of police department No. 3 of the Stryi district police department opened criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty stipulated by the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years.
