Almost 300 road accidents involving drunken drivers since the beginning of the year – the police of the Lviv Region urge not to drive while intoxicated
In total, during this period, the police of the Lviv Region identified and prosecuted 5,343 drivers who drove vehicles while intoxicated, 419 of them – repeatedly during the year.
Protocols were issued to all violators under Article 130 (Driving vehicles or vessels by persons under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other intoxication or under the influence of drugs that reduce their attention and reaction speed) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
In general, since the beginning of the year, 269 traffic accidents involving drivers who were in a state of intoxication were registered on the highways of Lviv and the region, including 51 traffic accidents with victims, in which 3 people died and 74 were injured.
The police once again call on drivers to strictly follow the requirements of the Traffic Rules and not to drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other intoxication. The law enforcement officers remind that such an offense carries a fine of 17,000 hryvnias with the deprivation of the right to drive for one year, for repeated offenses – from 34,000 hryvnias with the deprivation of the right to drive for three years, for violations three or more times in a year – from 51 thousand hryvnias with the deprivation of driver’s license for 10 years and confiscation of the vehicle.
