On January 28th, in Lviv region, during a joint operation by investigators of the Lviv District Police, migration police officers, and members of the Carpathian Border Patrol, a 44-year-old citizen of Ivano-Frankivsk region was arrested. The man is accused of attempting to illegally smuggle a military conscript across the Ukrainian state border to an EU country, avoiding control checkpoints.
The perpetrator, according to the investigation, organized the entire process of leaving the country, which included 10,000 euros for planning the route and providing necessary instructions to his ‘client’. During the arrest, which occurred while attempting to deliver the person to the border crossing, cash and other evidence of his illegal activities were seized from the suspect.
The suspect has already been charged with illegal human trafficking across the state border, an offense that carries a sentence of seven to nine years in prison. A pre-trial investigation continues, focusing on the possible involvement of the suspect in other criminal offenses.
