Road Accident in Lviv Region: Pedestrian Injured as a Result of Car Hit

Lviv Region Police urge road users – vehicle drivers and pedestrians, to strictly adhere to safety rules. Drivers, do not exceed the permitted and safe speed limits, especially in residential areas, under adverse road and weather conditions, as well as in low visibility conditions. Carefully monitor road situations and do not distract yourself from operating vehicles. Pedestrians – cross the roadway at designated places and follow all safety measures. Incident Details

The road traffic accident occurred on February 14 around 4:30 AM in one of the villages in the Lviv district. Preliminary police investigations revealed that a 37-year-old local resident, driving a “Chevrolet Lacetti” car, hit a pedestrian – a 27-year-old resident of Lviv, who was crossing the roadway outside the pedestrian crossing.

As a result of the hit, the pedestrian sustained bodily injuries and was taken to the hospital. The investigators have opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 286 (Violation of Road Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article’s sanction is imprisonment for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. Police are establishing the circumstances of the event.
