The detainee hid part of the stolen property, the total value of which is about 30,000 hryvnias, and managed to sell the rest.
The police received a report of theft from a house located in one of the villages of the Lviv district on April 27. According to the applicant, expensive tools and other property worth more than 30,000 hryvnias were stolen from the premises at night.
The investigative and operative group of police department No. 3 of Lviv district police department No. 2 worked at the scene of the incident. The law enforcement officers conducted a complex of operative and search measures, during which they established that a 32-year-old man from Lviv, who had previously been criminally prosecuted for similar crimes, was involved in the theft.
With the help of video surveillance cameras installed as part of the “Safe Lviv Region” program, the police discovered the location of the intruder and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He hid part of the stolen property, and managed to sell the rest.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
