Under the procedural supervision of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation was initiated into the violation of traffic safety rules by a person driving a vehicle, which caused the death of the victim (Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The accident occurred on March 15, 2024, on the Kyiv-Chop highway in the direction of Lviv.
According to the investigation, a citizen of the Republic of Poland, driving a truck train with a tractor, drove onto the oncoming lane and collided with another truck train. As a result of the accident, the victim, the driver of the oncoming vehicle, sustained numerous serious injuries and later died.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine and a custody was chosen as a measure of restraint.
The investigative actions are ongoing.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
