Under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment against a 36-year-old resident of Khodoriv was sent to court. He is charged with offering and giving an unlawful benefit to an official (Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in January this year, in the city of Khodoriv, police officers stopped the driver of a vehicle. The man violated traffic rules and was in a state of drug intoxication.
In order to avoid administrative liability, the defendant offered the police a bribe of USD 1000. While in the police car, he put the money in a folder with documents. Law enforcement officers refused the bribe and called the investigative team to the scene.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by investigators of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
