The Security Service and the State Security Service exposed the former head of the strategic enterprise of the defense-industrial complex in Lviv Region for corruption

The official’s illegal activity led to the actual “disarmament” of several Ukrainian air defense systems worth almost 2.4 million UAH.
It was established that until the beginning of 2022, the person involved gave unsubstantiated instructions to subordinates to decommission air defense systems that were brought to this enterprise for repair and modernization. Then he appropriated the “written off” parts, which contained a significant part of precious metals.
An examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of the criminal scheme.
Thus, this official undermined the defense capabilities of Ukraine on the eve of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
Currently, the person involved has been notified of the suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (appropriation, waste of property or taking possession of it by abuse of official position).
An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
In addition, information about the possible involvement of the figure in cooperation with the Russian special services is being checked.
Measures to expose the device were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Lviv specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Western region.
Note: According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
