Investigators of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent to court the indictment against an official of the forestry company ‘Galsilis’. The charges relate to abuse of official powers and falsification of official documents (Part 1 Article 364, Part 1 Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It was established that in 2023, the deputy forester, using his official position and for monetary reward, initiated illegal tree cutting. Directing others under unofficial agreements allowed them to cut more trees than permitted by the logging ticket.
To conceal the illegal actions, the accused entered knowingly false information into official documents about the number and volume of trees cut, as well as provided nonexistent data about work performed by a contractor, who in fact did not carry out any work. These actions caused damage to the state in excess of 200,000 UAH.
The investigation was conducted by the law enforcement officers of the Sambir District Police Department. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty in the manner prescribed by law and convicted by the court.
